Dee Crumpler - New Director Helps Support a New Surgical Room to Spay and Neuter Animals

Dee Crumpler is now the new director of Neighborhood Affairs, which now also includes the Animal Service Center.
Due to cuts in funding, cities and counties across Florida are tightening their belts, Tallahassee included. Now city leaders say a re-organization of several departments will lead to big savings.
TREATS Inc. (Treatment Resources and Education for Animals in Temporary Shelter) announced today a $10,000 contribution to the Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center’s newly launched Kennel Sponsorship Campaign. The campaign will raise funds to help support a new surgical room to spay and neuter animals adopted from the facility. TREATS has pledged $10,000 to purchase surgical equipment for the room and will donate an additional $750 to sponsor both a dog and a cat kennel in the non-profit group’s name.
Dee Crumpler, director of the Animal Service Center, said, “We’re pleased to receive this substantial contribution from TREATS. Their donation gets our new kennel sponsorship campaign off to a great start, and I urge others in the community to follow TREATS’ example.”
Dee Crumpler, the Director Of Parks And Services, said, “With that work comes a lot of responsibility, and also a lot of excitement. I’m extremely excited as the manager is about this whole re-organization, it’ll save money, we’re going to improve the services we provide.” while he will have to prioritize, Crumpler says the area’s parks mean too much to the local economy for any major cuts.
Crumpler also added, “Certainly we’re going to look at that, but to lose services or to decrease the level that the community is come to expect from us, I would say no.
The group holds several fundraisers each year including the Santa Paws Walk at Lake Ella, the Furry Scurry 5k/10k run and funwalk, and For Cats’ Sake, a silent auction and art event. More information about TREATS can be found at www.treatsinc.org.
